The Lee College of Engineering had its second annual football reception for alumni season ticket holders this past Saturday before the 49ers played against the Golden Eagles. Over 70 alumni, friends, family, faculty and staff continued celebrating the 50th anniversary of the college’s first graduate and Homecoming 2015 in Duke Centennial Hall lobby which sits directly across from the football field. Our engineering family enjoyed a visit by the Charlotte 49ers cheerleaders and Professor X and his student handlers, a robot built by engineering students.

Dean Johnson briefly spoke about the College’s 50thanniversary and then introduced Jamie Franki, a world famous coin designer who also happens to be a UNC Charlotte art professor. Franki spoke about designing and creating a medal that commemorates the 50th anniversary of the College and how proceeds from the sale of the medal will support student scholarships. Franki displayed the 3” bronze medal and the 1.5” silver medal. They both have Bill States Lee on the front and the mission words of the College on the back - design, create, apply, visualize, build
