Seminar Title: Twin Pillars: Innovation and Entrepreneurship 

Speaker: Paul Wetenhall, President, Ventureprise, Inc.

Abstract: Innovation and entrepreneurship are vitally important to economic progress in the Charlotte region and throughout the U.S. Universities are major components of a vibrant innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystems. The talk will address how these inter-connected topics contribute to a vibrant economy. It will describe efforts underway in Charlotte to strengthen our entrepreneurial sector and specific resources and programs available to UNC Charlotte researchers, faculty, and students.


Paul Wetenhall is president of Ventureprise, Inc., a UNC Charlotte affiliated non-profit which is building the regional entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem and which operates an incubator (Ben Craig Center) providing business guidance to innovation-based entrepreneurs.
At Ventureprise and previously as president of High Tech Rochester Inc., he assisted the business development of over 120 early-stage technology companies and led regional innovation-based economic development initiatives. He has been a founder and executive of two software ventures and served as a corporate director. Previously, he served in marketing, pricing, and product management roles for Xerox Corporation.
Paul Wetenhall is an engineering graduate of Georgia Tech and he earned an MBA from UNC-Chapel Hill.
